A new chapter for Riva Rentals: meet Marjolein!
She is not entirely new to Riva, but Marjolein is bringing fresh energy as the new face of management at Riva Rentals. With years of experience and a passion for property, she is ready to take us to new heights.
Her journey in real estate
Marjolein’s career in real estate began in 2011 after she completed her Real Estate and Brokerage studies in Rotterdam. She joined a traditional estate agency focused on letting and sales, but market conditions were challenging at the time. Marjolein quickly set herself apart by building a network of investors interested in property investment. The network grew over the years, and many of these clients are still in contact with Marjolein and enjoy working with her.
In 2014, Marjolein expanded her expertise by becoming a certified property valuer, a role she has enjoyed for a decade. Yet her main focus was always broader. In 2015, she therefore moved to a property management company with its own estate agency, becoming its director in 2016. There she further developed her property and management skills. After ending this working relationship in early 2023, she decided to become self-employed, taking on various interim assignments while continuing to work as a valuer. During this period, she built valuable relationships and gained new insights into the sector.
A familiar face at Riva Rentals
Marjolein’s connection with Riva Rentals goes back almost ten years, to when she held her first job elsewhere. In August 2023, Marjolein began working part-time at Riva. What started as a part-time role quickly grew into a full commitment to Riva Rentals, partly because she was looking for a workplace with colleagues and like-minded people.
Marjolein’s enthusiasm for property shows in her desire to see projects through from start to finish. She builds relationships easily and takes time to answer the growing number of questions from Riva Rentals customers, particularly in light of fluctuating and sometimes unclear government policy.
Marjolein is pleased to have been part of a team for a year and naturally takes on a leadership role. She enjoys inspiring, motivating and helping people improve. With a dedicated team, Riva Rentals is already expanding its services through Riva Makelaars, a logical step given Marjolein’s extensive experience and growing demand from our clients.

I often know their portfolios better than they do themselves, partly because I bought, let or sold those properties for them in the past. There is a genuine relationship of trust. Looking ahead
Over the years, Marjolein has learned that there are always opportunities in property. When one door closes, another opens. At Riva Rentals, we move with the market and provide clients with comprehensive, accurate information through our wide range of services and extensive network.
“The Netherlands still faces a major housing shortage, and experts have pointed to opportunities in the existing housing stock. Nobody expects this housing shortage to be resolved quickly.
Together with owners, and certainly also policymakers, we hope to explore what is possible with the buildings we let and manage in Rotterdam. Investing appropriately in the right properties can still pay off.
If a property is no longer an attractive rental investment and cannot be improved further, we would be happy to explore a sale. Naturally, we can also assist our clients with the purchase of other properties, both in Rotterdam and beyond.“
As Marjolein takes the helm, the former management team will focus on expanding our property business in Spain, under the name Riva Vastgoed Marbella. Our aim there is to guide buyers who are interested in investing in Spanish property, whether they are looking for their dream home, a holiday property to let or a combination of the two. Riva Vastgoed Marbella also works on property development and conversion projects.
